Finca El Llano, short for Llano Bonito de Leon Cortes is one of ten micro-lot estates that make up the larger Don Mayo Beneficio and processing mill run by Hector and Luis Pablo Bonilla and the Bonilla family. Currently they share the honor of being the current Costa Rican Cup of Excellence winners (2009). El Llano, is located in the Tarrazú Region in the micro-region of San
Marcos. Three farms, El Beneficio Farm, El Llano and La Casa Farm make
up El Rodeo Farms producing about 1500 bags a year. Sixty harvest
workers, six mill workers and ten farm workers pick, mill and tend the
micro estates where this coffee is grown. The varietals
from which these beans are produced are Caturra and Villa Sarchi grown
in the beautiful Costa Rican mountains at 1650 to 1950 meters.
