Plowshares is pleased to add this exciting new coffee to our lineup. Rwanda has risen up from it's painful recent history to take the East African specialty coffee scene by storm. This AA grade heirloom Bourbon varietal is a fine example of the coffees that are leading the way.
Bufcafe, the exporter is run by a genocide survivor named Epiphanie and the Gkongoro wet mill is the washing station that process coffee for roughly 3,000 local farmers. These same farmers have been able to earn premium prices for their coffee and have increased overall quality by reinvesting back into their mill. In 2008, coffee from Bufcafe won the Rwanda's Golden Cup coffee competition.
